Proposal Study Panels
Two Proposal Study Panels (PSPs) exist at the ALS, one for the general sciences and one for protein crystallography. Each PSP consists of members appointed by the ALS Director based on nominations submitted by the Users' Executive Committee (UEC). Every attempt is made to have all the scientific disciplines at the ALS represented on the panels.

The General Sciences PSP meets twice a year to evaluate general user proposals submitted to the ALS. Proposals are graded on a scale of 1-5 (see General User Proposals for additional information on the review process). The Protein Crystallography-SAXS PSP evaluates proposals on a rapid access basis every two months. The PSPs follow the guidelines endorsed by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) in the IUPAP Recommendations for the Use of Major Physics Users Facilities in evaluating the proposals under review.
