2008 ALS Users' Meeting
The annual Advanced Light Source Users' Meeting will be held at Berkeley Lab from Monday, October 13, through Wednesday, October 15, 2008. The meeting will cover new scientific work related to synchrotron research at the ALS and elsewhere. In addition to oral and poster presentations of research highlights from the last year, there will again be a student poster competition and a session dedicated to the scientific and personal contributions that former ALS Division Director Daniel Chemla made to the ALS community.
All users, post-docs, and students are invited to submit abstracts for presentation at this year's meeting; see Abstracts for more information. The poster session will be held in conjunction with the reception for vendors on Monday in the late afternoon. A hosted reception/buffet awards dinner will be held on Tuesday, October 14, during the early evening, on the ALS patio.
As in previous years, vendors and suppliers will exhibit the latest in synchrotron-related equipment and, as noted above, a special reception will be held for them on Monday in the early evening. Ten workshops, covering a wide range of topics, will be held beginning Tuesday morning after talks by the Halbach, Shirley, and student poster award winners. Some workshops may continue through Wednesday morning; see the Workshops page for up-to-date information. One workshops is being presented jointly with the LCLS/SSRL users' meeting.
