Layered titanium dichalcogenides intercalated with transition metals are low dimensional solids where monoatomic layers of TM atoms (TM=Cr, Mn, Co, Fe, Cu) with a given density are separated by nonmagnetic slabs of TiZ2 matrix (Z=S, Se, Te). Single crystals of TMxTISe2 and TMxTi1-xSe2 (TMDC’s) are of scientific interest because their magnetic and transport properties are drastically changed as a result of TM intercalation or Ti substitution. Discovery of charge-denstity wave (CDW) to superconductive state transition in Cu diselenides of titanium and promise of that for Fe and Cr TMDC’s inspired a number of studies of their electronic structure. Mn and Cr TMDC’s are becoming the subjects of scientific interest in spintronics because of a possibility to form a half-metallic band structure. Electronic band structure and the chemical bonding situation were examined for three cases: TiZ2 (Z=S, Se, Te) , TM (Cr, Mn) intercalates and Cr substitution compounds. Results of Soft X-ray Absorption, Resonant and Non-Resonant Photoelectron and Photon emission spectroscopies (XAS, XPS, XES, ResPES and RXES) of single crystals will be presented. Opportunities for further research of those materials by other Soft X-ray based techniques will be discussed.
