| Description: | ALS-CXRO Seminar Series Wed, May 16, 2012 3-4 15-253 Host: Sung-Kwan Mo Presented by: Susan Tsutakawa LBNL Title: Structural Biology of DNA repair Abstract: DNA repair is an essential cellular process that protects life from both endogenous and exogenous insults to DNA. To determine and understand the mechanisms underlying DNA repair processes, we combine multiple methodologies to visualize DNA repair machines and to test our hypotheses. This talk will describe our work on the DNA repair enzyme Flap Endonuclease, a protein that repair 5' flaps formed during DNA replication and DNA repair. This work combines crystallographic, small X-ray scattering, biochemistry, microscopy and computational methods to .understand how FEN1 works. |
